Tooth Extractions

Our goal is always to preserve your natural teeth whenever possible. However, extraction may be necessary when a tooth is severely damaged, infected, impacted, or affected by advanced gum disease. When an extraction is recommended, we use gentle techniques and modern anesthesia to ensure your comfort throughout the procedure.

When Is an Extraction Necessary?

A tooth may need to be removed due to:

  • Severe decay or infection

  • Advanced gum disease

  • A fractured or non-restorable tooth

  • Impacted teeth, including wisdom teeth

  • Orthodontic treatment requiring additional space

  • Failed root canal treatment

What to Expect

Most extractions are performed under local anesthesia, so you should not feel pain during the procedure. You may feel pressure, but our team will ensure you remain comfortable throughout treatment.

After the extraction, we will provide detailed instructions to help promote proper healing and minimize discomfort.

Wisdom Tooth Extractions

Wisdom teeth often require removal when they become impacted, partially erupted, difficult to clean, or cause pain, infection, or crowding. We will evaluate your wisdom teeth using clinical examination and dental imaging to determine whether extraction is recommended.

Recovery

Most patients return to normal daily activities within a few days. Mild swelling, tenderness, and bleeding are normal during the initial healing period.

To support healing:

  • Rest for the remainder of the day

  • Avoid smoking, straws, and vigorous rinsing

  • Eat soft foods for the first few days

  • Follow all post-operative instructions provided by our team

If you experience severe pain, excessive bleeding, or signs of infection, contact us immediately.

Replacing a Missing Tooth

After an extraction, replacing the missing tooth may help maintain proper chewing function, appearance, and alignment of surrounding teeth.

Treatment options may include:

  • Dental implants

  • Dental bridges

  • Partial or complete dentures

We will discuss the most appropriate option for your individual needs.
